I am Lukas Sitkus, a self-taught graphic designer and photographer living in Vilnius, Lithuania. I design minimalistic logos and brand identities.
How did I get here?
Around ten years ago I was first introduced to graphic design. My dad gifted me a copy of Photoshop, and my journey began. It seemed pointless at first, but after a couple of tries, I noticed how inspired I am to create simple design pieces. A craft that required attention to detail. It was just a hobby at the time and I have not seen any future in it.
Suddenly, I found out about the graphic design profession and realized this is who I want to be. The only question was, how do I pursue my dream.
The idea to learn what somebody tells me to learn seemed uninspiring. So I said to myself: "It's not rocket science" and decided to teach myself. Researching graphic design, ordering books, taking online courses and dedicating myself to learn every day was the key to where I am now.
At first, I called myself a logo designer. I loved it, but I couldn’t see myself in the future with that only. On one of the design books by David Airey, I read about brand identity design, and it became a solution to my problem.
I had a new goal of becoming a brand identity designer. Since the early thought about it, I’ve been designing logos, brand identities, and consulting brands for more than five years now. I never stopped learning, and each project I do is an opportunity to conquer my abilities and come out better.
A couple of years back I adjusted the same system of learning and taught myself to play acoustic guitar, film photography, tried drawing, logo animation, learned some front-end web development and hopefully more skills to come in the future.
